Goodnight kisses from the cat
Standing in my room
Getting ready for bed,
My cat hangs
Around my feet
Waiting for me
To crawl into
My bed.
He meows
And squeaks
Wanting attention,
So I pick him up
To hold him
And I listen
To him purr.
He is so content
In my arms,
I know he wouldnt
Want to be
Anywhere else,
(Except for that catnip plant.)
I reluctantly
Put him back down
So I could finish
Getting ready.
When Im ready,
I turn out the lights
And I crawl
Underneath the covers.
Immediately my cat
Jumps up on top of me
Making himself at home
On top of my chest,
And mere inches away
From my face.
He kneads the blankets
Delicately,
Making his bed.
I pet him
And scratch him
Behind his ears,
And I smile
Knowing hes content.
He inches closer
To my face,
Touching his nose
With mine,
Giving me a
Goodnight kiss.
Then he relaxes
And drifts off to sleep
Leaving me wondering
How to move
Without disturbing him,
So I could sleep.
Every night
This happens,
And every night
I look forward to it.
The day is never over
Until my cat
Touches noses with mine.
To give me
A goodnight kiss.
And some nights its this
Im writing now Shadow.
No, my pencil is not a toy.
Stop grabbing for it.
Let me write.
Hey, what are you doing?
Thats my notebook.
Dont bite it.
Ok, I give.
Wheres the rest of the pencil?
Get that pencil
Out of your mouth.
Do you want to write?
Arent you sleepy yet?
Can I write now?
Please

"Walk with me the diamond road, Tell me every story told, Give me something of your soul, That I can hold onto, I want to wake up to the sound of waves, Crashing on a brand new day, Keep the memory of your face, But wipe the pain away, When you're lonely (you're not alone)When you're heart aches (on Diamond Road) It's gonna take a little time, Yeah, it's gonna take a little time, When the night falls (you're not alone) When you're stumbling (on Diamond Road) it's gonna take a little time, To make it to the other side, So don't miss the diamonds along the way, Every road has led us here today, Little bird, what's troubling you, You know what you have to do, What is yours you'll never lose, And what's ahead may shine, Beneath the promise of blue skies, With broken wings we'll learn to fly, Pull yourself out of the tide, And begin the dream again" ~Sheryl Crow
