You Can Go Home Again, but You Cant Stay
A scent brought me home today.
So familiar, unexpectedly,
it yanked me out of life
and plunged me into yesterday
where all was as it used to be
in fondly glowing memory,
untainted by past strife
and fuzzily trouble-free.
Then spun back to now,
recalled by sudden tears
for all I should have said
before time took the chance away.

A scent brought me home today.
So familiar, unexpectedly,
as to yank me out of life
and plunge me into yesterday
where all was as it used to be
in fondly glowing memory
untainted by past strife;
warmly, fuzzily trouble-free.
Fading scent, journeys end,
locked in the present I am again
with all I wanted, needed to say
before time took the chance away.
