This is the September edition of the Maelstrom News, where we take a look back at what happened at the board in the last month...September, the month of harvests and the herald of Autumn to come...a time for reflection...except for our southern hemisphere members, for whom spring is on the way!
As you may have noticed, the look of the front page has changed a little; with the number of contests and challenges, the wording at the top of the page was getting a little crowded, so we've tidied it up a bit! Hopefully it works for you, and gives you clear sight of which contests and challenges are open, and where we need votes, and so on! If anyone has any suggestions for improvement or enhancement, let us know!
Competition News:
IBPC - No winners in our first month of entries, but undeterred, we have just submitted the next batch of entries. We wish NEILringsmith, Daniel Barlow, and soulsease the very best of luck!
For our other contests, the results are as follows:
August Picture Contest winner: frances kennedy!
Into The Depths Contest winner: soulsease!
July 6 Words Contest winner: Sandra Erickson!
July 6 Banned Words Contest winner: Sandra Erickson!
The new competitions for this month are all up and running, so if you want a chance to win, come and see what is happening in the other forums - check out "Into the Depths" - there's a very creative new contest in there! Also, don't forget to vote for the August 6 Words/6 Banned Words challenges - voting is open now.
Challenge news: Need to spark your muse? Try a challenge! This month in Eddies, try out the Espinela form challenge. In the Illustrators Isle forum, the art challenge theme is Lines. Plenty of scope there, so come and have a try! Eddies is also hosting a "10 word" Challenge, and there is still a chain poem in progress in Rivuletsplenty to kick-start your muse!
Lies, Damned Lies, & Statistics: There are now 626 registered members, so even during a quiet August, we gained another three members - a warm welcome to you all, and we hope you like what you find here! Since we started the site over five years ago, The Maelstrom has accumulated over 2,416,000 page views, and 144,000 posts!
