Once upon a time in my silly, pathetic youth (22, heh) there was a close friend in my life, also named Dave (well, he went by Dave anyway)...
He was a good 11 years older than me, and was happy being a bar fly. Me, I still had responsibilities in front of me, a job to worry about keeping, etc.
There was a young lady I wanted to impress, and since he reckoned himself a poet I asked him to write a poem that would help me out. I never gave it to her, and am probably better off for it!
I was cleaning the house today and happened to run across it again (to wrap up a long story rather messily), and thought I would share. My thoughts and best wishes go out to him, where ever he may be. Love ya, man...
Just A Thought
Do you know what I did today?
I sat thinking of you.
Wondering how you are,
And just what I am to do.
From the first moment I saw you,
Until I slept last night.
Strange feelings surround me,
And I don't know if they're right.
I don't know if it's right,
For me to feel this way.
And I didn't know if it's right,
For what I'm about to say.
You see, I can't call this love,
I don't know you that well.
But these feelings are strong,
And I beleive they are real.
All of this may sound strange,
But what am I to do.
Just let all these feelings go,
And never tell them to you.
Do you know what I did today?
I sat thinking of you.
Wondering how you are,
And just what I am to do.
From the first moment I saw you,
Until I slept last night.
Strange feelings surround me,
And I don't know if they're right.
I don't know if it's right,
For me to feel this way.
And I didn't know if it's right,
For what I'm about to say.
You see, I can't call this love,
I don't know you that well.
But these feelings are strong,
And I beleive they are real.
All of this may sound strange,
But what am I to do.
Just let all these feelings go,
And never tell them to you.
