A Chance to Meet
Walking alone down a dim lit street.
As chance would have it, someone I'd meet.
An old friend from a long time ago.
Many years had come and gone
since I last saw
those soft blue eyes.
My pace became deliberately slow,
both unsure and I could see
he was hesitant
to notice me.
Then in unison, smiles came
to both our faces
along with those feelings
that time never erases.
We exchanged greetings and hugged
as I remembered the heartstrings
he once tugged.
We talked for a while about
our jobs, families and past history.
The reason we lost touch
still remains a mystery.
We exchanged e-mail addresses
and said our goodbyes
as memories flashed by
tears filled my eyes.
Our meeting was bitter sweet
yet I'm thankful for
our chance to meet.
Walking alone down a dim lit street.
As chance would have it, someone I'd meet.
