Sig...that's a can of worms right there! Depends on how traditional you want to be with your haiku...seasonal haiku for example must have seasonal key words in them, and these are decreed by the Haiku masters in Japan - yep, it's that serious! In the west, we tend to call anything that has a 5-7-5 format Haiku, but everything I read about it makes me realise how little I know. There are a couple of posts in Fluid Dynamics that explain the basic concepts, and a VERY long piece called Towards an Aesthetic for English Language Haiku that goes into far more detail, and if you have the time, may well answer a lot of your questions!

The thing with the Haiku game is just a bit of fun...most are really Zappai or Senryu...but they are not titled as such, it is normally just the subject matter that has been suggested by the previous poster that is used as a title!
