Whilst we expect lively debate, we would like to maintain the spirit of The Maelstrom.

There are a few rules in this forum... the most important are:

POSTS:
1) Anyone who posts here does so because they are interested in improving their craft. If you do not wish to receive probing and constructive criticism of your poetry, please post in our non-critical forums.
2) If the poem you're submitting is form poetry, please indicate which form after the title in the subject line with parentheses: (Villanelle), (Spenserian sonnet), etc.
3) As a participant to White Water, you must offer a critique of one poem posted here for each submission of your own work.

CRITIQUES AND RESPONSES:
1) Critiques are intended to help the author make the best of their work. Please be constructive, and specific. If you are new to critiquing, please visit THIS LINK for a discussion of techniques. 20-word critiques are not comprehensive enough to provide the depth White Water intends.
2) Comments not given in a constructive manner will be removed at the Administrators discretion. Remember, in this forum there is no right or wrong, only opinion.
3) Personal attacks will not be tolerated. PERIOD.
4)Please limit yourself to posting no more than one piece at a time, not to exceed 2 poems per week (7 days). We strongly suggest you complete open revisions of a poem before submitting another.

COURTESY:
Critique takes a fair amount of time and energy on the part of those offering their opinions and suggestions. While we don't expect anyone to agree with every suggestion or criticism offered on their poetry, we DO expect members to acknowledge the time and effort given by those who have offered their honest opinions. If you are not going to post revisions based on the suggestions received, please at least take the time to show the courtesy of offering a thank you to those who have given you their best.
